Ogun State Police command on Thursday paraded 22 suspects arrested in the state in the last one
month for various offences which include murder, cultism, kidnappings and armed robbery cases.
The state PoliceCommissioner, CP Valentine Ntomchukwu while parading the suspects at the state police headquarters, Elweran, Abeokuta disclosed that 15 persons who were believed to be members of “Aiye” cult group, alleged to have killed one Gbenga Kofowora were arrested.
The suspects according to the police boss are; Gbenga Adeoye, Ifaseyi Adeoye, Animashaun Oluwafemi, Tosin Lanlege, Opeyemi Ogunnowo and Amos Akinniyi.
Others are; Oluwaseun Dalamu, Ahmed Idowu, Dare Alaba, Azeez Alimi, Biodun Yinusa, Muba Salimi,
Sunday Folohunsho, Ovie Konjo and Dare Adeoye.
The CP also paraded three suspected kidnappers who allegedly kidnapped a 97-years old man, Pa Amos Samaye along Ijebu-Ode/Benin expressway early this month.
The Commissioner of Police also paraded four suspected armed robbers who dispossessed one
Ngozi Oyelade of her Toyota Highlander SUV with her personal valuables while driving into her compound in Sagamu.
Explaining how the suspected cultists, led by one, Opeyemi Banjoko were arrested for killing Kofowora, the state police boss disclosed that them alleged victim was a member of another rival cult group, “Eiye”.
“The cultists invaded Pepsi Junction, new garage, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun state and killed Gbenga Kofowora on the spot.
“The suspects were caught with two locally made guns, one sword, assorted charms and paraphernalia of office of the Lords,” the CP said.
Commenting on the kidnapping of the 97 years old grandpa, the police commissioner disclosed that two other persons have been arrested in connection of the incident.
They are Oluyele Akintunde and Samuel Adewunmi.
It would be recalled that one Obi Emeka had earlier been arrested by the police concerning the kidnapping.
They were arrested with some exhibits, which include; one beretta pistol, one locally made single barrel pistol, two life cartridges and some assorted charms.nOn the armed robbery case, Ntomchukwu stated
that five five suspects were arrested. Among them are; Fatai Ademola, 25, Azeez Omotosho, 29, Ibrahim Yusuf, 29, Jimoh Quarry,25.
He said they were arrested with one Toyota Highlander SUV, five mobile phones, one cut-to- size single barreled gun and life cartridges.
The Police Commissioner assured the people of the state of adequate security of their lives and properties, urging them to be of help to the police by giving useful information to them.
He warned criminals in the state to desist or be ready for serious battle with the police
