News reaching us indicates that, 3000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis of Justice Group yesterday, March 11, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos.
The report has it that, the group was led by Chief David Abidakun, who explained that they are leaving
the APC in Lagos and the south west.
He said: “We are not counting the number of people here but our membership. We have a membership of over 70, 000 in the South West and all of us will join the PDP in our various states in the South West after the formal ceremony”.
According to Chief Abidakun, the group left the APC for being marginalized.
He added that: “We believe that the PDP is a place to be and so we have decided to be part of the winning team”.
Receiving the decampees in an event attended by chieftains of the PDP and the party’s Lagos State governorship candidate, Mr Jimi Agbaje, the Lagos State deputy chairman of the PDP, Chief Sikiru Apena, promised the new member, fair and same chances with existing members of the party.
It would be recalled that something of similar vein recently occurred in Yobe when, Alhaji Ibrahim Gero, a chieftain of the APC and 7, 000 members of the party joined the PDP.
